The role of ABS on an Iveco Daily II truck

The Bosch 5.3 ABS for Iveco Daily II trucks is an essential component in ensuring optimum braking performance. ABS (Antilock Braking System) is designed to prevent wheel lock-up during braking: it uses various sensors to monitor steering angle, truck speed and wheel rotation. It also adjusts brake fluid pressure as the driver applies the brake.

Common faults with Bosch ABS 5.3

ABS, like any electronic part, can fail. When this happens, driving can be dangerous, with the truck losing control under emergency braking. In the case of this ABS, the failures we have observed are :

  • Loss of communication: Sometimes it is no longer possible for the ABS to communicate properly with the engine ECU and obtain wheel speed or braking information. As a result, the ABS is no longer able to regulate braking correctly, preventing safe and correct use of the vehicle.
  • Wheel sensor fault:If the truck’s wheel is blocked and the light is on, it’s probably due to the ABS. When the ABS is faulty, it no longer sends enough brake fluid to the calipers. The brake system may also have been damaged.

VAT) return (€21 (excl. VAT) outward and €13 (excl. VAT) return). You can also choose to ship the part yourself, or hand-deliver it to our workshop in Couëron (44).


    Repair rates: For repair services, we draw up customized estimates based on the characteristics of your part and the faults or problems encountered. Once the part has been received in our workshops, one of our specialized electronics technicians will draw up a breakdown diagnosis and a repair plan. You will receive your quotation in your customer area and by email. The service will be carried out once your quotation has been signed and paid for.


    Warranty: Parts repaired in our workshops are guaranteed for 1 year from the date of repair. This means that if your equipment breaks down again or has a problem within the warranty period, we will pay for transport, any new spare parts and any other services required to keep it running smoothly.


    Timescale: On average, we repair your equipment within 72 hours (from the time we receive it to the time it leaves our workshops). For a more precise estimate of your repair service, please consult the "Estimated service time" section. In the event of an emergency repair, we can offer you an "express lead time" option, so that your part can be taken care of in our workshops within 24 to 48 hours.
